The Roots- Dear God 2.0

New track from the Roots upcoming LP How I Got Over available June 22. This one is a remake of the Monsters of Folk track "Dear God". Once again, the Roots prove that their gritty, well constructed lyrics will continue to have a future in my iTunes library. Having said that, perhaps they could include some more upbeat lyrics in this new LP? I don't always want to feel like the world is about to end.

Recently Ratatat decided to release a riveting video to go along with "Party with Children" --a single that they decided to give away free following the aftermath of the leak. Now I happen to think this albino parakeet (or whatever) is pretty amusing, but that's just me. You just have to put it into perspective. For instance, I'd rather watch this bird (or grass grow, paint dry, concrete set, snail move, etc.) than watch any Nickelback music video. Besides, this isn't the actual music video--just something they put up in the meantime.

Audi R8 GT

The first time I saw an Audi R8 in real life was on the Autobahn--and it made me feel like going 140 mph was like standing still. I knew at that instant the R8 was one of my favorite sports cars. About a week ago Audi announced the Audi R8 GT; the car retails for $256,000 and is limited to 333 units. The Audi R8 GT accelerates from zero to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in 3.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 320 km/h (198.84 mph). 

Bringin in the summer with Delorean

A few weeks ago I featured Delorean's new EP Subiza being released, and now that school is out and summer has begun I figured it was time for another dose of Delorean. There's something about the mixture of Spanish dance influence mixed with deep pop melodies that goes perfectly with anything summer.  Right now these Spaniards are on tour with Miike Snow...which would be a pretty cool show any time of year.

Awkward Family Photos

The funny thing about this book is that everyone who picks it up can probably think of a specific family photo from their childhood that evokes awkward memories. The full body denim look must have been the thing to do because I remember my family doing the exact same thing sometime in the late 90s. Available at Amazon.com for the low price of $9 dollars, this is a great conversation piece..great addition to the coffee table.

My 8th grade Spanish teacher would be proud of me for knowing that mariposa means butterfly in Spanish....but these guys aren't Spanish--they're from Philadelphia and they just came out with a new EP "Empty Side".  A quirky yet simple sound in "La Mariposa" reminds me somewhat of Vampire Weekend.

Here we have four variations of understated color that are all very unique. Right now I'm considering tossing my current pair in the garbage as they have recently become extremely stinky so I'm definitely in the market for this summer..

Ratatat- LP4

I love most everything Ratatat which is why I was so excited to hear that some new songs had leaked from Ratatat's upcoming album LP4 which is set to be released June 8th. From what I've heard so far, it looks as though they've switched their style up a bit in favor of harder hitting electronic/dance beats. Looking forward to what else the album has to offer...
